APP DESIGN & CONCEPT
Downplay is a LoFi and instrumental streaming service that, not only helps set the mood audibly, but visually via display lights. This genre of music is typically played during moments in our lives where we want to reduce stress, attain peace, and be able to focus. Now, those kind of moments can apply to a lot of scenarios; studying, driving home from a long day at work, reflections, simply trying to go to bed, etc. And Downplay understands that.
1
Upon opening the app, you'll be greeted by the initial page that quickly allows you to access your recently played songs as well as a series of playlists. Underneath each song, a preview bar is provided for you to see the colors that will be displayed when listening to that particular selection. By default, the colors for individual songs are based on their album art.
When minimized, the preview bars are still visible to help you better determine the mood you are searching for.
2
When scrolling within a playlist, you won't have the preview bars available like before. Instead, you'll be able to pull down a new preview window from the top of your screen that plays a short animation of the lights based on the playlist's settings.
3
Need something a little less vibrant or want to cut the lights off altogether? That's perfectly fine. And doable. Right within the settings menu, you can adjust your preferences as needed whether that's displaying the album art, keeping songs pinned to the bottom of your screen, or simply wanting the lights to flash a little faster. We won't judge. This is all for you.
Happy vibing.
